Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, reinforced its commitment to support U.S. military men and women with its recent $10,000 donation to the Fort Hood Fisher House in Fort Hood, Texas.
The donation to the Fort Hood Fisher House was given by Combined Insurance on behalf of its South zone as part of “Operation Veteran Giveback,” a recent sales incentive competition among the company’s four zones. As reward for the top two producing zones, Combined Insurance would make donations to the winning zones military-related charities of choice. As one of the top producing zones, the South zone, which extends from Texas to Virginia, won a $20,000 donation and chose the Fort Hood Fisher House, as well as the Fort Bragg Fisher House, as recipients of the donation – each receiving $10,000.
“Our team of agents and managers are proud that their hard work and determination resulted in this incredible opportunity to make a donation to such a wonderful organization as the Fort Hood Fisher House,” said Greg Busse, market director, South zone for Combined Insurance. “It is important for us to be able to give back to those who risked their lives for our freedom. We are truly honored and grateful to make this contribution to such a worthy cause.”
The Fisher House Foundation supports a wide network of comfort homes veterans wounded in battle and their families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. The homes are located at or near major military installation and VA medical centers nationwide. Since its inception, Fisher House locations across the country have served more than 250,000 military families.
“It is my sincere honor to accept this amazing donation on behalf of the Fort Hood Fisher House and the families that pass through our doors,” said Theresa Johnson, manager of the Fort Hood Fisher House. “As a military spouse of 25 years and the mother of a Soldier who was injured in 2012 I am acutely aware of the impact the Fisher House mission has on a family. If it were not for the Fisher House program I personally would not have been able to stay with my son for months during his recovery. I want to thank Combined Insurance for what they do to support Veterans not only through employment and insuring them but also by giving back to our military communities.”
Recently named the Top Military Friendly® Employer for 2015 by Victory Media (publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine), Combined Insurance is dedicated to helping military veterans find meaningful employment as they transition back into civilian life. Since 2010, the company has hired more than 2,000 veterans to date, many of whom have made valuable contributions to the company and built successful, financially stable lives for themselves and their families. In 2014 alone, 42 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires had military backgrounds.
